Description

Abstract
"在定期航運市場中,航商會有許多明顯的屬性存在,例如某些航商傾向採用策略聯 盟的方式營運,有些則否。然而,參與策略聯盟對定期航商而言,究竟是否能帶來較 大的效益,是一個相當重要且值得探討的課題。因此,本計畫擬利用以距離函數(distance function)型式建立的麥式生產力指數(Malmquist productivity index)與共同邊界函數 (meta frontier),發展模式據以檢視「長期參與策略聯盟」與「未來參與策略聯盟」兩 組全球主要定期航商之營運績效。此外,由於不同洲別、國別或船舶運力的航商在生 產技術上可能有所不同,本計畫另擬根據麥式生產力指數與共同邊界函數所發展之模 式,就不同分組方式之航商進行績效評估。並利用麥式生產力指數之特性探討不同的 效率拆解方法,進一步分析定期航商跨期效率變動的原因以及趨勢。值得一提的是, 本計畫將嘗試納入相當重要且過去文獻較少引用之投入產出變數進行分析,如營業費 用、燃油費用、貨櫃數量(分自有與租賃)、船舶運力(分自有、租賃、大小)、員工 人數等。此類資料常會以敘述方式分散於各公司年報以及不同資料庫中,蒐集頗為耗 時並須比對其正確性,然因此類變數實為直接影響定期航商生產過程之要素,故本計 畫仍將盡力蒐集資料,據以發展更接近實務的評估模式。""The market of global liner shipping is oligopoly and dominated by a few huge liner companies. In such a market, some liner companies prefer to form strategy alliances rather than run the business independently, but some liner companies don’t. Therefore, it is important and worthy to identify the effect caused by joining alliances. Based on the concepts of Malmquist productivity index (MPI) and distance function, this research aims to develop mathematical programming models to examine the productivity of leading global liner companies. The meta-frontier model is also applied in this research to further examine and decompose the MPI. By such models, the productivity of global liner companies can be measured and compared in terms of alliances, nations, continents or capacities. In addition, taking advantage of the MPI which could be further decomposed, more models are expected to be developed in this research to measure the productivity changes of liner companies among various periods. Another characteristic of this research is the data for empirical study. In addition to the data commonly used in previous studies, this research plans to collect administration expense, fuel expense, container fleet (owned and leased), vessels ranked by size and employee (crew and land staff) for productivity evaluation. The difficulty for collecting such data is high due to they are scattered in various sources. However, this research will try to gather them to develop models that can measure the productivity of global liner companies more practically and typically."
