"海洋漁業資源為人類提供一定糧食保障(food security)，但許多商業漁捕之目標物種已面臨匱乏之問題。頭足類，尤其管魷類，為許多大洋表層生態系營養結構之重要組成，亦被認為是目前尚能支應海洋漁業發展，並補充人類動物性蛋白質需求之海洋資源之一。但是商業開發可能間接影響捕食頭足類之其他物種。探察頭足類物種之組成，分析其組成及族群結構變化趨勢，及其在海洋生態系之角色，為實行漁業生態系統措施之重要基礎。目前頭足類之研究，多集中於商業漁捕之目標物種(尤其大洋魷類)，並以探討資源量變動及影響機制居多。相對而言，臺灣周邊水域之頭足類研究仍相當有限。東海陸棚水域具旺盛基礎生產力，宜蘭灣水域為海洋資源物種之重要棲地，二處皆為臺灣沿近海漁業的主要作業水域。在長期漁捕壓力下，主要商業漁捕目標物種之族群資源量與組成可能出現改變。本研究擬延續先前計畫，除繼續收集宜蘭灣之頭足類標本外，並增加東海南部水域之頭足類標本(拖網漁船漁獲物)採樣。以瞭解東海南部頭足類物種之組成及變動趨勢，並探察優勢鎖管物種之生活史參數。本年(第一年)計畫內容包括： 1)透過標本船每月採集頭足類物種，探察東海南部與宜蘭灣頭足類物種組成及季節變動。 2)以平衡石微結構分析優勢鎖管物種(劍尖鎖管)之生活史參數，及季節群之成長策略，並推測東海南部與宜蘭灣水域劍尖鎖管族群可能之移動與洄游型態。此結果將對東海南部頭足類物種組成有進一步瞭解，後續並可應用於分析海洋生態系之變動。 " "Marine fisheries resources provide food security to a degree for human, while at least 78% of the exploited stocks were in overfishing or depleted status. Cephalopods, especially squid, play a central role as trophic structure in many marine pelagic ecosystems and are suggested as one of the marine resources to support the development of fisheries and to provide animal protein for increasing human population. However, commercial exploitation of cephalopods may indirectly influence the species preying on cephalopods. Information on species composition, temporal variation in population structure and the role in ecosystems for the exploited stocks (fish and/or cephalopod) are critical to achieve the objectives for ecosystem approaches to fisheries. Most of the studies of cephalopods focused on commercially fishing species (particularly pelagic squids), and analyzed the variability in abundance and distribution with related environmental factors. In contrast, cephalopod studies around Taiwan are scarce. The East China Sea (ECS), located at large shelf in the northwest Pacific, is rich in primary productivity. Yi-lan Bay (YLB), located at Northeast Taiwan, is an essential habitat for several marine resources. Both the ECS and YLB are important fishing grounds for the neritic fisheries of Taiwan. Abundance and structure of the exploited stock in the ECS and YLB may have changed after a long-term exploitation. This study is an extension of precious study, in addition to collect cephalopod sample from YLB, and to collect cephalopod sample from the southern ECS (SECS, production of a trawler). The objectives of this study are to explore species composition and variation of cephalopods in the SECS and YLB and analyze the life-history traits of one dominant loliginid squid. The working items of this year (the first year) are: 1) to examine monthly composition of cephalopod species in the SECS and YLB by a trawler sampling; 2) to analyze the life-history traits of one dominant loliginid species (Uroteuthis (Photololigo) edulis) and growth strategies for seasonal cohorts for both regions, and to explore movement and migration pattern between these regions. These results will improve our understanding on population structure of the cephalopod species in the SECS and may apply to explore the changes of ecosystems under fishing exploitation and climate change. "
