摘要: This study aims to assess the effectiveness of management strategies in reducing ALDFG, improving fisher compliance, and mitigating marine pollution in Taiwan's coastal regions. Through a questionnaire survey of 248 gillnet fishers, the research examined their perceptions of ALDFG-related policies, including marking regulations, recycling mechanisms, and marine environmental awareness. The results indicate that while 85.8 % fishers support stronger financial incentives for ALDFG recycling, significant discrepancies exist between different fishing groups. In particular, small-scale artisanal sampan fishers showed lower approval rates for these policies. The findings highlight the need for adaptive strategies, improved stakeholder engagement, and enhanced financial incentives to promote compliance and environmental responsibility. These insights provide valuable recommendations for improving ALDFG management and protecting Taiwan's coastal ecosystems.</summary>

摘要: In rural elementary schools, improving English as a Foreign Language (EFL) proficiency is challenging due to socioeconomic disadvantages and geographical constraints that limit access to quality teaching methods. This is particularly pronounced among low-achieving EFL students who require remedial support. These learners often face limited opportunities for practice and struggle to improve due to conventional remedial classes that rely heavily on lecture-based instruction and focus on achieving higher scores through written assessments. To address these challenges, augmented reality (AR) offers a novel approach by using 3D visuals to help students better visualize and retain information in English vocabulary and phonics, fostering classroom participation and building language confidence. This study adopted an experiential learning model based on Kolb's four-stage cycle to design an AR-supported experiential learning (AR-EL) environment tailored to the needs of 25 low-achieving EFL students. Quantitative and qualitative data, including pre- and post-tests, questionnaires, and reflective writing, were analyzed. The findings indicated that AR-EL improved students' vocabulary acquisition and retention, enhanced their self-efficacy and motivation, and reduced learning anxiety. Through written reflections, the students shared how AR enhanced their learning experiences, language skill development, competitive learning dynamics, and overall classroom participation compared to conventional remedial classes.</summary>

摘要: It is inevitable that second language (L2) learners often resort to test-wiseness (TW) strategies in reading tests to obtain higher scores. Previous research has reported mixed findings on whether TW strategies enhance L2 reading performance, but such strategies are often treated as a single, undifferentiated category. The aim of this study was to categorize TW strategies into distinct types and investigate their effects on L2 reading performance. Participants were 531 Taiwanese university students who completed a Test of English for International Communication (TOEIC) reading test and a TW strategy questionnaire to self-evaluate strategy use frequency. In the questionnaire, we divided TW strategies into four categories: time-using, error avoidance, deductive reasoning, and cue-using strategies. We then used Item Factor Analysis and structural equation modeling to examine the relationship between different types of TW strategies and students' TOEIC reading scores. Results showed that error avoidance strategies were the only type with a positive effect on reading performance. While deductive reasoning strategies could provide shortcuts to potentially determine the correct answer, our results indicated that over-reliance on such strategies may negatively impact performance. The implications for L2 teaching and future research are also discussed.</summary>

摘要: This paper ranks among the initial empirical studies to explore the complex socioecological system (SES), dynamics, shifts, and their ramifications to coastal fisher communities in Taiwan. Participatory interactions with 38 respondents in Yunlin and ocean environmental data across Taiwan from 2010 to 2020 were utilized to capture SES vulnerability and resilience options for Yunlin, Taiwan. Findings revealed that Yunlin possesses valuable coastal resources that determine livelihood activities and SES functioning. The dominant fisheries resources have created unique livelihood identities, bonds, and SES networks among actors. SES and fishing-livelihood interactions are shaped along familial, community, and long-established ties. However, demographic shifts, for example, aging fisher and migrant youth populations, are altering SES interactions. With sea surface temperatures increasing by 1 degrees C, bleak fishers' livelihood futures are projected. This is worsened by massive ocean renewable energy projects, catapulting into declining livelihood benefits and coastal resource access. To mitigate these threats, diverse livelihood empowerment and SES resilience options are proposed. To expound these options, a co-designed sustainable coastal community system pathway with six critical resilience perspectives is developed. Enhancing SES and coastal communities' resilience requires a holistic understanding of micro-level SES dynamics. Thus, coastal communities' re-engagement and cross-sectional transdisciplinary research are needed. These could re-evaluate diverse spatial-temporal SES vulnerability dynamics and create better resilience perspectives for coastal fisheries and other livelihood sectors.</summary>
