Understanding Consumptive Orientations in Rock Fishing: A Taiwanese Case Study for Sustainable Fisheries

標題: Understanding Consumptive Orientations in Rock Fishing: A Taiwanese Case Study for Sustainable Fisheries
作者: Wang, Hui-Chiao; Liao, Ting-Yu; Wu, Chien-Hsing
摘要: This study adapts and validates the Consumptive Orientation Scale (COS) for licensed rock anglers at Keelung Islet, Taiwan, to clarify attitudinal structures relevant to sustainable recreational fisheries management. An SMS-distributed, web-based survey was sent to the official roster of licensed rock anglers (4036 invitees); 651 usable responses were obtained (16.1%). Confirmatory factor analysis supported a four-factor, 13-item solution with good fit and acceptable internal consistency. Inter-factor correlations indicated related yet distinct attitudes: Catching Something correlated positively with Catching Numbers of Fish and with Retaining Fish; Catching Numbers of Fish correlated positively with Catching Large/Trophy Gamefish; and Catching Large/Trophy Gamefish correlated negatively with Retaining Fish, while the association between Catching Numbers of Fish and Retaining Fish was weak and non-significant. These patterns delineate heterogeneous attitudinal profiles without inferring observed handling outcomes, consistent with cross-cultural validation studies of COS in other angling contexts. The validated instrument strengthens the theoretical linkage between consumptive orientation and the human dimensions of fisheries, enabling tracking of attitudinal segments over time. Findings also inform adaptive communication and policy strategies for emerging recreational fisheries in East Asia, where angler-focused conservation norms are still developing.

Bus drivers' intention to accept level 4 autonomous buses in ethical dilemmas: An extended technology acceptance model

標題: Bus drivers' intention to accept level 4 autonomous buses in ethical dilemmas: An extended technology acceptance model

摘要: As autonomous driving technology progresses in the private vehicle sector, research on autonomous buses is gaining global attention. Most studies currently focus on passenger needs and attitudes, with less attention given to the drivers who directly operate these vehicles. This study examines the attitudes and behavioral intentions of current bus drivers under different operational scenarios using Level 4 autonomous buses. By extending the Technology Acceptance Model to include trust and compatibility and integrating it with the Integrative Ethical Decision-Making Framework (IEDMF), the study analyzes drivers' intentions to use AI systems in moral dilemmas. This theoretical integration provides a comprehensive understanding of how rational and intuitive moral reasoning influence technology acceptance in ethical contexts. Structural equation modeling indicates that perceived usefulness and ease of use are critical factors influencing drivers' operations of autonomous buses in such contexts. The research also reveals significant differences in decision-making behaviors between urban and intercity bus drivers in moral dilemmas, with urban drivers more likely to rely on AI for ethical judgment and prioritize pedestrian safety in critical situations. These findings highlight the importance of targeted training programs: urban bus drivers should focus on urban safety and ethical considerations of pedestrian areas, whereas intercity drivers should enhance their strategies for managing long-distance driving ethics and highway dilemmas. Furthermore, this study underscores the necessity of investing in robust AI systems capable of making ethical decisions under pressure and advocates for integrating diverse ethical frameworks into these systems to better reflect societal values and norms, providing guidance for the future operation of autonomous buses.

Exploring bus drivers' intentions to collaborate with level 4 autonomous buses: Integrating the technology acceptance model and assemblage theory

摘要: As AI proliferates, human-AI collaboration has become necessary in many domains, not least in public transportation, where highly automated, if not fully driverless buses, require human-AI cooperation. However, existing technology acceptance models lack insight into the unique factors that influence acceptance in collaborative human-AI contexts. This study integrates the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) with Assemblage Theory to provide a comprehensive framework that does explicate key mechanisms underlying bus drivers' behavioral intentions toward Level 4 autonomous buses. Drawing upon Assemblage Theory, we conceptualize the driver and the autonomous bus as a human-machine collaborative assemblage. Perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use from TAM are modeled as antecedents, with compatibility and trust from Assemblage Theory as mediators, predicting attitude and behavioral intention. The theoretical model is examined using structural equation modeling on data collected from 719 bus drivers of four major transit companies in Taipei. Results robustly support all hypotheses, with perceived usefulness exhibiting stronger positive effects on trust and compatibility than perceived ease of use. Trust and compatibility positively influenced attitude, which strongly predicted behavioral intention to cooperate with Level 4 autonomous bus introduction. The empirical findings show TAM is enriched by the integration of Assemblage Theory concepts, extending both theories' ability to facilitate autonomous mobility human-AI collaboration.

Enhancement of Marina Service Quality of Yacht Tourism in Taiwan: A Euclidean Distance of Importance-Performance Analysis

標題: Enhancement of Marina Service Quality of Yacht Tourism in Taiwan: A Euclidean Distance of Importance-Performance Analysis
作者: Wang, Hui-Chiao; Lirn, Taih-Cherng
摘要: In spite of COVID-19 struck tourism industry, the trend of yachting tourism is steadily increasing and provides a way for the tourism industry to resume after the epidemic. Marinas, a vital component of yachting tourism, deeply effects the yacht owners' satisfactions and the coastal destinations attraction. Since the marina industry in Taiwan is still in its early stages, this study aims to identify ideal service quality standards to enhance competitiveness. With a limited cohort of 69 yacht owners in Taiwan possessing yachts exceeding 20 gross register tonnage (GRT), insights from our research, which engaged perspectives from 50 yacht owners, provide valuable understanding into their satisfaction regarding marina services in Taiwan. As the first study to explore key factors of marina service experience among yacht owners, this study applies importance-performance analysis (IPA) and Euclidean distance to provide the development strategy and improvement priority of Taiwan marina service. Overall, the result from improving IPA technique which adopted Euclidean distance reveal that yacht owners generally thought that the improvement priority of marina service quality is sewage, bilge water, and oil sludge treatment facilities, fueling facilities, high-voltage shore power facilities, land storage space. It is noteworthy that marina managers should embark on improving marina physical facilities as development strategy which highlight the performance of marina service quality for yacht owners and the improvement in those facilities can be developed to either increase the marina competition or to resume tourism industry.
