摘要: Sightseeing and tourism not only brings economic benefits to the local community but also drive the development of related industries. In 1992, when the Matsu's battlefield mission was dissolved, tourism became one of the key development strategies to boom the region. Although the number of visitors to Matsu Islands has risen significantly in recent years, how to increase the island's willingness to revisit the island has been an important issue. Since local tourism has its own characteristics, island tourism marketing strategies should be different. Many previous studies have quantified the relationship between tourism area satisfaction and willingness to revisit, but there is no research analyzing of island tourism marketing importance performance to evaluate the influencing factors of revisiting willingness. Based on the local tourism marketing position, this paper mainly adopts the SAVE marketing model, taking the Matsu Islands as an example, to explore the key influencing factors on island tourism revisit intentions. Next, it transforms the model into the island tourism marketing mix, and conducts an empirical analysis of the key influencing factors on Matsu tourism revisit intentions by the Importance-Performance (IPA) method. The study indicates that the main criteria of the desire to revisit Matsu Islands are Integration Solution and Tourism Education, while the key influencing factor of the major improvement area is The Integrity of Transportation Construction. It is suggested the local government and related companies strengthen marketing and improve the current situation. The findings may serve as a reference for the allocation of tourism resources in Matsu Islands.

Assessing performance of Taiwan hospitals using data envelopment analysis: In view of ownership

摘要: With rapid economic development in Taiwan, people have greater awareness of health care and are paying more attention to it. From the perspective of hospital management, the scale of hospitals and efficiency improvement are of concern to hospital managers. However, the extent of efficiency will differ between public and private hospitals due to their different ownership and goals. The study aims to evaluate the efficiency of public and private hospitals and to investigate the influence of ownership on efficiency of hospitals. The differences between hospitals can be understood by analyzing the features of the organization of hospitals and their geographic environment. In this way, hospitals with relatively low efficiency will be able to make improvements based on concrete evidence. By means of the two-stage method, the efficiency scores of 182 hospitals in Taiwan are compared. In the first stage, the data envelopment analysis is applied to obtain the efficiency scores of hospitals. The results show that private hospitals are more efficient than public hospitals. In the second stage, Tobit regression is used to investigate the factors influencing efficiency obtained by the data envelopment analysis. The results indicate that there are differences between ownership in market competition and the average length of stay.

Effect Of Battery Energy Storage Systems On The Value Of An Intermittent Wind Energy Source In Isolated Systems

標題: Effect Of Battery Energy Storage Systems On The Value Of An Intermittent Wind Energy Source In Isolated Systems
作者: Chen, Chun-Lung
摘要: The increase in environmental protection awareness and the progressive exhaustion of conventional fossil energy sources have increased interests in integrating wind energy sources into existing power systems. Despite the various benefits of wind power, the intermittency and unpredictability of wind power generation cause operational concerns and waste usable capacity as the installation of the wind generation sources increases. To enhance the value of an intermittent wind energy source by using a battery energy storage system (BESS), an iterative algorithm that combines improved dynamic programming and a hybrid direct search method were developed for solving the optimal wind-thermal-battery coordination scheduling (WTBCS) problem in power systems. Key concerns in BESSs and the integration of wind energy and electric power systems were investigated and discussed using the proposed WTBCS software. In addition, the developed WTBCS software is useful in assessing the effect and economic benefits of installing BESSs and wind farms. Numerical experiments were conducted to provide information for both operational and planning problems in isolated power systems, such as the Penghu power system.

Service quality assessment of free trade port zone using multilayer quality function deployment: an empirical study in Taiwan

摘要: The aim of this paper is to improve the service quality of Taiwan's free trade port zone (FTPZ), which is the key facilitator for trade activities and economic growth. However, high service quality is important to satisfy FTPZ's users, investors, and other stakeholders. This study evaluates the service quality of the FTPZ using the multilayer quality function deployment (QFD) technique. Many previous studies on the FTPZ only focused on the points of view of manufacturers, logistics companies, and cargo owners, whereas a service provider (such as the Maritime Port Bureau) has a different viewpoint. To fill this gap, we evaluate the FTPZ's service quality by proposing a multilayer QFD analysis that considers both the customer's and the service provider's perspectives, with results nearly similar to the actual service quality. By completing the house of quality (HoQ), the voice of the customer and voice of the service provider may be transformed into technical solutions to enhance service quality. The results offer three important technical solutions: Strengthening information and technology systems, Coordination and unified regulations, and Constructing automated road and regulation systems. The study offers practical implications for policymakers, business practitioners, and other FTPZ stakeholders in Taiwan.
