Morphologically, S. hextii is found to be most similar to S. alfonso P & eacute;rez Farfante, 1981 and S. steindachneri (Balss, 1914), with the latter species previously placed in another genus. Molecular analysis of the barcoding gene COI supports the notion that these three species are closely related and revealed an unexpected low genetic divergence between S. hextii and S. steindachneri. |
