Description

Abstract
This project aims at the development of Ocean Engineering Division. In the past three years, all scholars and experts in this division diligently focus on their research work in the three traditional areas, including naval architecture, ocean engineering and underwater technology. In addition, they also created new interdisciplinary research areas which integrate the three traditional research fields in order to incorporate with the national development strategy in science and technology such as submarine native manufacture, marine energy, offshore wind energy, maritime engineering and deep sea water, detection of underwater resources, navigation and so on, which are related to world climate change. In serving the industries, scholars and experts in this division, we also make an effort to encourage them to submit long-term research proposals. The division also invited academically excellent and personally fair-minded scholars to form the review committee, helped young scholars to prepare and write the proposals, and draft the development plan of the division. Friendly speaking, the research work in the division has been done well and prosperous. The integration capability is increasing. Nevertheless, few young scholars joined this division and some senior scholars retired in the past three years. The whole research capability is withering, which could be a warning sign to the division.
