Description

Abstract
"本研究目的在探討學習者在地科電子教科書之不同文本結構閱讀理解情況,並瞭 解數位環境下,學習者的概念理解、環境偏好與認知負荷對學習成效的影響。電子教 科書具有圖文、影音與多媒體的特性,易提起學習者的興趣與學習動機。學習者訊息 處理能力與教材呈現方式的配合將有助於提升學習成效。本子計晝的研究工作包括: (一)閱讀電子教科書時的眼球活動軌跡紀錄與分析情況;(二)學習者在電子教科書 之不同科學文本結構之閱讀理解分析;(三)閱讀電子教科書時,學習者數位環境偏 好與認知負荷情況;(四)建立眼球活動、閱讀理解、數位環境偏好與認知負荷之理論 結構模式。本研究主要係利用眼動儀來紀錄學生於閱讀科學文本時,產生的凝視、回 視、掃視等次數與時間的變化,以探討閱讀理解之認知活動,並進一步與數位環境偏 好、認知負荷等結果作比對。除了眼動儀的資料收集,本研究將利用問卷與面談來檢 測學生的數位環境偏好、認知負荷、閱讀理解與思考模式等。預計未來將獲得的資料 有兩類,一是眼動儀記錄的時間與空間資料,必須透過數值分析方法(MatLab, GazeTracker)來呈現研究結果,另一方面為質性與量化資料,質性資料需要深入的内 容分析,量化主要透過量表。本計晝分三年進行,去年審查通過第一年,今年配合總 計晝持續呈報兩年計晝,第一年主要數位教材内容分析、文獻蒐集與實驗設計,並進 行前測;第二年主要是繼續正式施測的資料收集,並與其他子計晝進行資料分析比 對;第三年的工作重點則為整理分析研究資料,與其他子計晝之資料比對,提出理論 架構,並發表研究結果。 "The purpose of the study is to Explore the impacts of the environmental preferences and cognitive loads on learners' information processing behaviors as they read the earth science texts in the digital textbooks, and learning achievements.The characteristics of e-textbooks include image and text , audio-visual, and multimedia functions that easily stimulate learner interest. Coordination of learners’ information processing ability and teaching material presentation methods enhances learning effectiveness. There are four research tasks in the study. The first is to record and analyze students’ eye movement patterns during reading digital textbook. The second task is to assess text concept understanding. The third is to analyze the modes of environmental preferences, and the last is to construct a theoretical framework that hopefully can illustrate the relations between text comprehension , environmental preferences and cognitive load . The main research tool is the Mobile Eye tracker which is able to record various types of eye movements and durations including fixation durations, including first, progressive and regressive fixations, saccades and gazes. Quantitative and qualitative data will also be collected through questionnaires and interviews. To analyze eye movement data, some specific statistical and numerical analysis programs, such as MatLab and GazeTracker, will be employed. The results of questionnaires and interviews will be analyzed via content analysis.The main research tool is the FaceLAB eye tracker which is able to record various types of eye movements and durations including fixation durations, including first, progressive and regressive fixations, saccades and gazes. Qualitative data will also be collected through open-ended questionnaires and interviews. To analyze eye movement data, some specific statistical and numerical analysis programs, such as MatLab and GazeTracker, will be employed. The results of questionnaires and interviews will be analyzed via content analysis.The project will last for three years. The first year is aimed to collect relevant literature,develop research tools, and conduct some pilot studies. The main study will also be launched in the fist year. The main task in the second years is the main study collaborated with the other two associated projects. Data analysis, construction of a theoretical framework and publication of research result will continue in the third.
