"從過去的傳統貿易理論，到 Krugman 之後的「新貿易理論」，乃至「新新貿易理論」，對於商品的運輸成本的設定上，大多以運送過程自然損耗對待，冰島模型(Samuelson, 1954)下運輸成本只不過是商品價格的加價。冰島模型雖方便操作，晚近相關實證文獻發展上點出運輸成本與貿易的一些問題。本計畫擬將運輸部門納入考量異質廠商的新貿易理論，重新檢視運輸成本與在地市場效果。模型的特點在於摒棄冰島模型運輸成本設定，建構運輸部門，重新推論內生運輸成本如何影響到對大小廠商規模的消長，以及地市場規模和貿易型態的影響。""From the classical trade theory to new trade theory since Krugman, the Samuelson (1954) iceberg transport cost is defined as a cost of transporting a good that uses up only some fraction of the good itself, rather than using any other resources. Although convenient from a modelers’ perspective, many recent papers have focused on the importance of transport costs shows that in settings iceberg specifications cause a distortions and problems. Deviating from the traditional setup of iceberg transport cost, we adopt the new trade theory of increasing returns to scale (IRTS), imperfect competition and firm heterogeneity (the coexistence of big and small firms), extend it to consider setup transport industry, and analyze how the endogenous transport costs level might affect the firm size distribution and home-market effect in a small open economy and free trade."
