Description

Abstract
"    Given the current rapid development of fish farming in the world, intense future competition for limited supplies of fish meal is expected. As a strategy to reduce risk, the identification, development and use of alternatives to fish meal in aquafeeds remain a high priority. Among animal protein sources, fish protein hydrolyzate has been proved to be interesting fish meal substitution. Since fish protein hydrolyzate has high protein content made from fish waste, availability and low price, it represents a major dietary alternative to fish meal in diets for carnivorous fish species. Therefore, alternative protein source is needed to reduce the current dependence on fish meal as the primary protein sources for aquatic animal diets. Fish protein hydrolyzate is obtained from the liquefaction of scraps of marine fish and is characterized by a high content of peptide and free amino acids as compared with the composition of native protein. Taking into account their composition, this product has been considered as an ingredient for grouper aquaculture diets. The purpose of this study will investigate grouper fed diets with the substitution of fish meal with different levels of fish protein hydrolyzate. The experimental diets included fish meal protein will be replaced by 0, 5, 10, 15 and 20% fish protein hydrolyzate to feed grouper fry. The weight gain percentage will be estimated as the optimal substitution."
