Description

Abstract
"Vaccine development is one of the major approaches of controlling viral diseases in aquaculture. Unfortunately, in consideration of detailed items of vaccination, such as cost, stress and efficacy, there are only a few of commercially available vaccines for fish viral pathogens to date. In our previous studies, inactivated vaccines was developed against grouper iridovirus of Taiwan (TGIV), and a 100% protection rate was obtained via injection vaccination under challenge tests. However, injection vaccination is considerably time-consuming and labor-intensive. To aim at practical uses of the TGIV vaccine, oral vaccination is claim attention in this project. First, for better protection of viral antigens through gastrointestinal tract of fish, encapsulated treatment is considered. Moreover, in combination of vaccine and dietary supplementation may be effective mean of increasing potency of vaccine to resist viral infection. Therefore, present study will conduct to develop encapsulated oral vaccine for practicable use of TGIV vaccine and control of the disease."
