"生物處今年度業務推動共分成14學門，分別為「生物學」2學門、「農學」2學門、和「醫學」10學門，每一學門邀請一位學者擔任學門召集人。學門召集人之職掌為1)協助專題研究計畫申請案之推動及審查， 2) 出席國際會議、海外學人來華演講與短期科學技術指導、及延攬研究人才等申請案之審查，3) 國際合作雙邊科技合作(合作領域規劃、優先合作項目建議、人員互訪交流等)、補助國內舉辦國際學術研討會、補助團隊參與國際學術組織會議及補助跨國產學合作交流及專業人才培訓等申請案之審議，4)出席學門召集人會議，協助國科會相關業務之推展，5)協助撰寫該學門研究成果年報或協助，提供臨時性該學門相關學術資料，6)其他學門相關業務之諮詢、規劃與推動。本年度生物多樣性及長期生態學門主要推動生物多樣性行動方案中確定數個臺灣陸域及海域生物多樣性熱點和監測地點(D1101和D2102案)，並選定應加強研究的指標性生物(D1203案)，以舉辦相關會議以期能達成共識，使日後能更有效率的推動生物多樣性熱點和臺灣具指標性的生物之族群變化研究。另外亦廣泛徵詢國內分類學者專家的意見，作為如何加強臺灣分類學能力建設的參考(D1202案)，以期使國內能保持具有足夠本土研究人力調查臺灣高多樣性的生物。" The present project is to co-ordinate evaluation committees for grant applications in the field of Biodiveristy and Ecology at the National Science Council. Moreover, several topics are identified as priorities to advance the biodiversity and ecological researches in Taiwan. These include the designation of biodiversity hot spots, areas with priority for mentoring, and selecting key organisms that need priority studies. The development of taxonomic expertise in Taiwan will also be emphasized.
