Description

Abstract
"Taiwan is geologically a maritime country. However, in order to develop to a complete maritime country economically and culturally, it is essential to offer the public the knowledge, understanding and easy access to the ocean environment. In addition, in the recent years, energy and environmental protection are gradually becoming one of the most popular topics. The offshore wind energy and ocean energy will certainly become one of the most important energy source of Taiwan in the near future. The National Taiwan Ocean University (NTOU) has been devoted in the area of ocean technology and education since the founding of the school. We will team up with the National Museum of Marine Science & Technology (NMMST) to develop novel ocean science education resource. This project is the core technology source of the integrated project. Our main task is to unite the the professional knowledge of offshore wind and ocean energy from NTOU and the experience of popular science education from NMMST. We will develop two interactive ocean power generator modules each year to be exhibited in NMMST. Three different types of ocean energy converter modules, including the wave energy, tidal/current energy, offshore wind energy, will be produced consecutively each year. The related documentations and teach materials will be completed by the joined effort of NTOU and NMMST."
