Description

Abstract
A flood forecasting system is a very complex system, which is composed of many modules developed by different team members. It is important that the data required for each module are provided in real time, and the programs of each module can be executed in the correct sequence. In the current year, we have studied the integration issues, such as the standard interface of different modules, data transmission between different platforms, and process control mechanism of distributed objects. In the following year, we plan to build the whole system based on SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture) techniques to support module integration and data exchange. We will also construct a Web GIS, so that the computed results and warning messages can be displayed on graphical user interfaces. Finally, we will integrate the final modules developed by other team members and perform on-site testing, to make sure that the whole system can run successfully and is applicable. If this sub-project can be successfully carried out, all the modules constructed by other sub-projects can be executed in an effective and efficient way. It is crucial for the success of the whole integrated project.
