Description

Abstract
石斑魚為本省重要的高經濟價值海水養殖魚類,但是自1992以來,虹彩病毒疫情嚴重威脅本省多種養殖海水魚類,也導致石斑魚苗培育業者損失慘重。為了防治病毒的傳播,健康種魚的篩檢和管理是其中重要的一環,因此本計劃擬和水試所海水繁養殖研究中心合作,持續調查虹彩病毒在石斑雌雄種魚中的感染情形,以達到提升本省石斑魚種苗品質的目標。另外,此類虹彩病毒顯示會在不同魚種間交互傳播感染,因此,本計劃也將嘗試自不同魚種分離虹彩病毒,並探討所開發之TGIV不活化疫苗對不同魚種由來之虹彩病毒的保護效果。 Grouper (Epinephelus spp.) is an important and high-priced maricultured finfish in Taiwan. However, an epizootic iridoviral disease has threatened maricultured industries in Taiwan since 1992, and has shown to cause severe economic losses in grouper fry and juveniles as well. In order to prevent virus transmission, a regular virus screening and health management of broodstock will be necessary. For this reason, we will continue the forward project in monitoring iridoviral infection in broodstock of grouper in Mariculture research center of Fisheries research institute for another year. Subsequently, tracing infection of individual brooder and survival of offspring will provide useful information for disease control strategy. Besides, reports indicated that this kind of iridovirus has cross-infected among fish species. Therefore, attempt will also made to isolate iridovirus from different fishes, and furthermore, to evaluate the efficacy of TGIV inactivated vaccine in fish against different iridoviral isolates.
