Abstract
"台灣附近海域的地下地體構造與台灣本島的地質、造山運動等息息相 關,長期以來一直有學者投入相關研究,以期回答許多構造演化之科學問題。 東部外海及西菲律賓海盆過去亦已有相關研究結果發表,但大多為淺層之折 射反射震測,使用天然地震資料的研究受限於海域佈設儀器有困難,大部份 都是使用遠震資料進行分析研究,在解析度與資料量上會受到較多限制。使 用海底地震儀可以解決海域區域無法佈設測站的問題,且可以較近距離接收 地震資料,尤其台灣東部及其外海地震發生頻繁,只要佈設儀器即有機會獲 得有用資料,並可提供較高解析度的研究成果以探討此區之地下地體構造。 2009 年台灣、美國合作之大型國際合作研究計畫TAIGER(TAiwan Integrated GEodynamics Research)進行至海域炸測實驗階段,海洋大學海底地震儀實驗 團隊使用輕巧型海底地震儀於台灣附近海域分階段佈設數條線性陣列以接收 炸測資料。儀器佈設期間,台灣區域陸續有大小地震發生,尤其東部及其外 海持續頻繁的發生地震,部份地震事件便於炸測實驗的同時、或之前之後, 被佈設於海底的儀器所記錄。整個海域炸測期間佈設之所有線性陣列都有機 會收到大大小小地震訊號,若從中仔細檢視以提取有用之天然地震資料,不 失為一良好機會以研究台灣附近海域之地下構造。" "The structures beneath the offshore of Taiwan area are relevant to the geological characteristics and mountain building of Taiwan Island. Some researches about the tectonic evolution in this area have been down. Some study results about the structure beneath the offshore of eastern Taiwan and the West Philippine Basin have been published as well. However, most of them are results of MCS/OBS (Multi-Channel Seismic/Ocean Bottom Seismometer) experiments which provide only shallow structure information. Due to the difficulty in setting stations in offshore area to receive the data of nature seismic source, the studies with nature source data usually use telesiesmic data. Using OBS can solve the problem that it is difficult to set stations in offshore area and receive the data closely. Especially, earthquakes occur in the offshore of eastern Taiwan frequently, as long as the instruments are set, the useful data could be obtained. During the Leg 4 of TAIGER (TAiwan Integrated GEodynamics Research) MCS/OBS experiment, the short-period MicroOBSs (Ocean Bottom Seismometer) were deployed as linear array around Taiwan area. In the meantime, the offshore events occur around Taiwan were well recorded, especially the events which occurred frequently in the offshore of eastern Taiwan. Those data provides opportunities for investigating the structure between Taiwan and the West Philippine Basin, including a very structure which is been interested in, Gagua Ridge."
