Description

Abstract
"在海洋生態系統生存方面,海洋動力對海洋污染物質傳輸扮演一個非常重要的角色。為了緩和海洋生態系統預期的破壞,它是需要的也就是說首先要對其動力行為有較好的了解,尤其是對海洋的混合及消散作用。例如這種過程會影響海洋生態系的生物幼苗從一個地方傳輸到另一個地方,珊瑚礁是獨有的海洋生態系統,它非常敏感並且容易受到氣候及人為活動壓力的影響。像這樣的珊瑚礁生態系統存在台灣最南端的南灣及以色列的Eilat海灣;這些豐富的生態系統通常會伴隨著重要的生物學及經濟方面的觀點。 這計劃主要目的是以過去南灣及Eilat的污染物傳輸及混合例子為基礎,然後進一步來了解其污染物得傳輸及混合的動力過程。但在這一步之前我們需要設計一操作系統並組合海洋觀測及數值模式,然後在特殊的大氣及海洋條件下利用數值模式來預測其污染物質的傳輸過程並且進而幫助及處理兩海灣的海洋生態系統。"Marine pollution, coupled with ocean dynamics, plays a crucial role in the survival of maritime ecosystems. To mitigate the expected damage, it is necessary to better understand ocean dynamics, especially ocean mixing and dispersion. These processes also affect the health of marine ecosystems by transporting larvae from one place to another. Coral reefs are unique maritime ecosystems and are sensitive to climate change and anthropogenic stresses. Such reefs exist both in Nan Wan Bay, Taiwan and in the Gulf of Eilat, Israel—these coral reefs and the rich ecosystems associated with them are important from biological and economical (touristic) points of view. The objective of this proposal is to improve our understandings, based on past cases, regarding the transport and mixing of pollutants in the Nan Wan Bay and the Gulf of Eilat; this is a necessary step before the design of an operational system, composed of ocean observations and a numerical model, that can predict the transport of pollutants under specific atmospheric and oceanic conditions and help to treat it in real time.
