Description

Abstract
Wireless sensor network has the advantages of low energy consumption, easy to construct and expend, which makes it a very suitable device for real time sensing and wireless remote monitoring applications, and therefore provide the calculating environment all around. The National Science Council engineering department had promoted a project called “Wireless Sensor Network, WSN Advance Technology Research” in 2006. This project had successfully developed the common platform for wireless sensor network, also some researches and developments for applications had been made by this platform. Tamsui is the first town, which passed the international certification as a “health city” for its abundant cultural and natural resources. Since St. John’s University has been in Tamsui for over 40 years, the relationship between the school and Tamsui is beyond description. Therefore, the research team which combined Tamkang University and National Taiwan Ocean University is looking forward to making a higher application on bicycle activity research about the most concerned topics in Tamsui, which are energy conservation, health care, environment monitoring, positioning and tracking, save and security, by applying the developed wireless sensor network platform and relevant technology. Finally, this project will set up a demonstration bike lane that is about 25 km long from Hongshulin to Shimen township along Tamsui River with the developed WSN system to practically improve the convenience of bicycle life. The construction of this project is primarily in wireless sensor network platform technology and deployment applications that focus on the needed of bicycle rider in outdoor activities. The scope of this project covers several features including the green power supply, physiological signals feedback, location tracking and grouping, and real-time security system. Three salient core technologies will be developed including bicycle WSN module, lane-side WSN module, and database and analysis technologies module. There is a highly technical support and relation between modules such that a tendency consistent for the purpose of this project can be reached giving consideration to the application and technology point of view. There will have a demonstration bike lane from Hongshulin to Shimen for the better bicycle life improvement. Moreover, we hope that the results of this project, the concept of YOHO Cyclist Groups, will provide a much more comfortable and intelligent bicycle life environment not only in Tamsui but also in everywhere.
