摘要: Impaired insulin signaling facilitates alpha-synuclein aggregation and exacerbates neuroinflammation related to Parkinson's disease (PD). This study investigated whether 8-gingerol from ginger could protect against MPP+-induced alpha-synuclein aggregation and neuroinflammation in SH-SY5Y cells via the insulin signaling pathway. MTT assay showed that MPP+ markedly reduced SH-SY5Y cell viability at 0.5-2 mM. Treatment of cells with 6-gingerol and 8-gingerol, but not 6-shogaol, significantly attenuated MPP+-induced cytotoxicity. The concentration at 20 &amp; micro;M showed the strongest neuroprotective effect. Immunoblots showed that 8-gingerol treatment attenuated the accumulation of (Ser129)p-alpha-synuclein and (Thr231)p-Tau induced by MPP+ for 24 h. Furthermore, 8-gingerol normalized the aberrant phosphorylation of IRS-1, Akt, and GSK-3 beta induced by MPP+. It also suppressed the MPP+-induced expression of inflammasome-associated proteins, including FoxO1, TXNIP, NLRP3, and cleaved-caspase 1. Pre-treatment with the PI3K/Akt inhibitor wortmannin abrogated the protective effects by increasing (Ser129)p-alpha-synuclein and NLRP3 inflammasome protein levels. These results indicated that 8-gingerol protects SH-SY5Y cells against MPP+-induced the alpha-synuclein aggregation and NLRP3 inflammasome activation is mediated through the insulin signaling pathway.</summary>

摘要: The shipping industry is undergoing significant transformation with advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), yet challenges remain in effectively adopting AI technologies. This study addresses the key concerns influencing AI adoption in shipping management. Using the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) integrated with the PEST model, an evaluation framework was developed to assess AI applications in shipping companies. Based on expert input collected through the Delphi method, four constructs and twelve criteria were identified, with the 'Technological' dimension being the most critical. 'Robustness,' 'Costs,' and 'Data quality' emerged as the top factors affecting AI implementation. The framework offers practical insights for shipping companies to strategically deploy AI, improving operational efficiency and competitiveness.</summary>

    <summary type="text">標題: Understanding Consumptive Orientations in Rock Fishing: A Taiwanese Case Study for Sustainable Fisheries

摘要: This study adapts and validates the Consumptive Orientation Scale (COS) for licensed rock anglers at Keelung Islet, Taiwan, to clarify attitudinal structures relevant to sustainable recreational fisheries management. An SMS-distributed, web-based survey was sent to the official roster of licensed rock anglers (4036 invitees); 651 usable responses were obtained (16.1%). Confirmatory factor analysis supported a four-factor, 13-item solution with good fit and acceptable internal consistency. Inter-factor correlations indicated related yet distinct attitudes: Catching Something correlated positively with Catching Numbers of Fish and with Retaining Fish; Catching Numbers of Fish correlated positively with Catching Large/Trophy Gamefish; and Catching Large/Trophy Gamefish correlated negatively with Retaining Fish, while the association between Catching Numbers of Fish and Retaining Fish was weak and non-significant. These patterns delineate heterogeneous attitudinal profiles without inferring observed handling outcomes, consistent with cross-cultural validation studies of COS in other angling contexts. The validated instrument strengthens the theoretical linkage between consumptive orientation and the human dimensions of fisheries, enabling tracking of attitudinal segments over time. Findings also inform adaptive communication and policy strategies for emerging recreational fisheries in East Asia, where angler-focused conservation norms are still developing.</summary>

摘要: As autonomous driving technology progresses in the private vehicle sector, research on autonomous buses is gaining global attention. Most studies currently focus on passenger needs and attitudes, with less attention given to the drivers who directly operate these vehicles. This study examines the attitudes and behavioral intentions of current bus drivers under different operational scenarios using Level 4 autonomous buses. By extending the Technology Acceptance Model to include trust and compatibility and integrating it with the Integrative Ethical Decision-Making Framework (IEDMF), the study analyzes drivers' intentions to use AI systems in moral dilemmas. This theoretical integration provides a comprehensive understanding of how rational and intuitive moral reasoning influence technology acceptance in ethical contexts. Structural equation modeling indicates that perceived usefulness and ease of use are critical factors influencing drivers' operations of autonomous buses in such contexts. The research also reveals significant differences in decision-making behaviors between urban and intercity bus drivers in moral dilemmas, with urban drivers more likely to rely on AI for ethical judgment and prioritize pedestrian safety in critical situations. These findings highlight the importance of targeted training programs: urban bus drivers should focus on urban safety and ethical considerations of pedestrian areas, whereas intercity drivers should enhance their strategies for managing long-distance driving ethics and highway dilemmas. Furthermore, this study underscores the necessity of investing in robust AI systems capable of making ethical decisions under pressure and advocates for integrating diverse ethical frameworks into these systems to better reflect societal values and norms, providing guidance for the future operation of autonomous buses.</summary>
