dc.description.abstractTime-dependent embryonic development of cyprinid loath (Misgurnus anguillicaudatus) and Japanese oyster (Crassostrea gigas) at ambient temperatures of 27 ±1°C were recorded. Toxicity tolerance tests were performed to determine the most tlerant embryonic stage and best cryoprotectant for their eggs at the embryonic stage. At gastrula stage of cyprinid loach, the hatching rate was not adversely affected when selected cryoprotectant agents (CPA), i.e., dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), ethylene glycol (EG), and sucrose, under 2.0, 1.5, and 1.0 M were used. Exposure of embryos at somite stage to 10% DMSO for 1 or 3 h gave the best rate of overall normal fry hatched. In Pacific oyster, eggs of late embryonic stage aged 4.0-h were more tolerant to the selected CPAs, namely, DMSO, EG, propylene glycol (PG), and acetamide. DMSO and EG were less toxic for embryos of Pacific oyster.en_US
