Abstract

Chairman, ladies and gentlemen, I am sorry that Dr. .Liao cannot attend this meeting. Dr. Liao and I have worked closely together on several projects, and we co-authored a paper that I presented at the 1985 World Mariculture Society meeting. It is my pleasure to present this paper on his behalf. This paper entitled "The Status _and Prospects of Prawn Culture in Taiwan" consists of three parts. The first is a brief history of prawn culture in Taiwan. The second examines the factors that have led to the success of Taiwanese prawn farming. Finally, I will discuss those factors which are necessary to ensure the continued growth and development of Taiwan's prawn culture industry.
