In this paper, Hilbert-Huang transform (HHT) is applied to transfer time-domain waves of the four EEG electrode channels (F7, F8, T3, T4) to obtain a scalp map which is potentially useful for capturing transient events such as epilepsy. Using Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD), the HHT decomposes the brain wave into a sum of Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs), and then Hilbert Spectrum of each IMF is calculated by using Hilbert Transform. The scalp map spectrum is sketched with energy-frequency-time distribution of each IMF. Because the energy of spike wave and sharp wave are contained in the scalp map spectrum, the difference between normal and abnormal patients can be observed through the scalp map. Experimental results based on medical source data indicate its clinical potentiality is extremely high.en_US
