This project aims to enhance students' understanding and application of smart materials and devices through project-based learning and the PDSA (Plan-Do-Study-Act) teaching cycle. By integrating theoretical knowledge with hands-on practice, the curriculum effectively improves students' problem analysis and device fabrication skills. This is achieved through teacher guidance, peer assessment, and reflective feedback. To assist students without a background in materials science, the course includes preparatory materials, visual-based instruction, and guided interpretation of experimental data. These resources lead to significant improvements in theoretical comprehension and the ability to clearly explain experimental principles and objectives. The curriculum incorporates fabrication experiments, such as spin coating and hydrothermal processes, along with various materials analysis techniques. These elements are further integrated with photoelectrochemical and gas sensing measurements to create a comprehensive device evaluation process. Students are required to engage in hands-on activities, data consolidation, presentations, and sharing of results, reinforcing their understanding through experiential learning. The inclusion of supplementary instructional videos has notably improved students' operational skills, while the PDSA cycle has encouraged continuous reflection and improvement of outcomes. End-of-semester surveys revealed that 80% of students felt the course enhanced their professional knowledge and practical skills, while 70% agreed it improved their learning strategies and problem-solving abilities. Additionally, academic performance and learning attitudes showed significant improvement, indicating the effectiveness of this teaching model. Future plans include further optimizing the course design to strengthen students' teamwork, understanding of technical terminology, and critical thinking skills. This approach aims to better prepare them to tackle real-world challenges and pursue advanced learning. The integration of teaching experience and student feedback can serve as a reference for future curriculum reform and instructional material development, ultimately enhancing teaching effectiveness and student achievement.
