Functional oxide materials have become an important research object in the field of new material development. Furthermore, the use of heterostructure engineering to enhance the intrinsic properties has become the most popular novel semiconductor composite material development research subject. Design of the one-dimensional p-n heterostructure oxide system with the continuous and discontinuous shells provides an important research topic on the enhancement mechanisms associated with the surface effect, interface effect and structural effect. This study plans to synthesize type II one-dimensional TiO2-Ag2O and TiO2-NiO p-n heterostructures with discontinuous p-type crystal surface decoration and continuous p-type crystal shell package using different chemical methods (photoreduction method and chemical immersion method) and physical sputtering method. The interface energy band properties of heterogeneous materials are manipulation by modulating the microstructures of the p-type Ag2O and NiO which have the visible light and ultraviolet energy gaps, respectively. Subsequently, such p-n heterostructures are developed for functional enhancement in the applications of gas-sensing devices, photodetecting devices, photocatalysts, and photoelectrochemical electrodes. The proposed project has a three-year implementation schedule. The first year of research will focus on the establishment of the correlation between the process parameters and the microstructure control of the p-n heterostructures. The second year focuses on understanding the gas-sensing and light detection response efficiency improvement mechanisms of the p-n heterostructures with different microstructures. In the third year, we focus on the evaluation and mechanism establishment of such heterogeneous structures in the performance improvement of photodegrading organic pollutants and photoelectrochemical electrodes. The results of this research project have important contributions to the understanding of the correlation between the material microstructure design and the component operation efficiency improvement mechanism of the one-dimensional p-n heterostructures. 功能性氧化物材料已成為新材料開發領域之重要研究對象，利用異質結構工程來強化本質特性成了受矚目之新穎半導體複合材料開發題材。設計連續與非連續外層第二型能帶特性的一維p-n異質結構氧化物系統對於整合表面效應、界面效應及結構效應三者的特性應用強化機制操控之基礎研究提供一個重要的研究題材。本計畫以三年的研究時程利用化學法(光還原法與化學浸鍍法)與物理濺鍍法來合成具有不連續p型晶體表面修飾與連續p型晶體殼層包覆的第二型能帶TiO2-Ag2O與TiO2-NiO一維p-n異質結構。分別藉由可見光與紫外光能隙的p型Ag2O與NiO的披覆，由材料微結構的調變與界面接合能帶屬性來進一步的操控研製這類p-n異質結構在氣體感測元件、光偵測元件、光觸媒、光電化學電極的應用上獲得功能強化目的。第一年研究重點將著重於探討化學溶液法與物理濺鍍法製程參數對於p-n複合材料顯微結構操控關聯性的建立，第二年著重於了解具有不同微結構之p-n異質結構在氣體感測與光偵測響應效能提升機制，第三年則專注於此類異質結構在光降解有機物與光電化學電極應用效能提升之評估與機制建立。計畫成果對於一維p-n異質結構的材料微結構設計與實務應用關聯性建立以及元件操作效能提升機制的學理了解有重要的貢獻。
