Issue Date: | 1996 | Publisher: | Aquaculture Health Management Strategies for Marine Fish in Asia and the United States | Abstract: | The marine fish culture industry has encountered various threats in Asia. Poor health management and disease treatment have been considered the most significant threats, especially when intensive fish culture is adopted. Pond culture of marine fish in Taiwan is more than three centuries old. With the propagation of new high-value species, the industry currently has more options. Generally, successful health management means profitable and sustainable production for the industry. The importation of exotic species may also have introduced some new pathogens to Taiwan. This paper aims to provide health management approaches and describes the current quarantine status of cultured marine fish in Taiwan. |
