It is morphologically most similar to L. formosus Chang, Komai & Chan, 2010, known from off Taiwan, amongst about 70 congeners, but subtle morphological differences and genetic divergence estimated from the barcoding segments of the mitochondrial COI gene warrant the recognition of the new species. The new species is the third representative of Lebbeus from Indonesian waters. |
