本中心聚焦於「海洋能源」與「河海災防」之關鍵技術的研發與應用：在能源與災防預警系統研發方面，本中心開發三維大氣、海洋及地形(3D-AtOM)耦合模式，更能重現海域複雜之海況之模擬，同時整合河川模式，成為統一使用非巢狀網格數值方法之一條鞭且本土化之「河海模式」，提升模式預報精度與效率功能。本中心亦建置河海大數據與整合型系統平台並研發人工智慧演算創新技術，應用於臺灣「離岸風電與海洋能源」與「河海災防」的實務問題。
