The Food Industry Research and Development Institute(FIRDI)is a non-profit legal entity established in 1965 with financial support from the Canners' Association of Taiwan ，CIECD (Council for International Economic Cooperation and Development) and JCRR (Joint Commission on Rural Reconstruction). The Institute with its land area of 1.94 hectares and an initial investment of NT＄80 million is located about 80 kilometers south of Taipei，the capital of the Republic of China. It is eminent for its physical set-up，organization and professional personnel as well as its contributions to the development of local food industries.
