Our department was established in 2001, the former Mathematics and Science Education department contained mathematics program and computer science program, with the main purpose of training specialized primary school teachers for mathematics and computer science. In recent years, our department has had remarkable achievements in the replenishment of computer equipment, professionalism of faculty staff, upgrading of research quality, and many students seeking higher studies or employment. In August of 2003, the master program of the Mathematics and Computer Science was established, with the aim to improve the specialty of teachers and researchers. It hopes that graduate students will devote in education and apply theory in the actual teaching practices in order to raise teaching quality. It also hopes that they will help to lay a good foundation to Taiwan’s primary school mathematics education and information technology education. In 2005, our school has upgraded from Taipei Municipal Teacher College to a Taipei Municipal University of Education. Our department has expanded into the theory of Mathematics and Computer Science (including master program). Start from 2006, a night graduate school of education has been established. In order to improve on the depth as well width of the teaching and research in our department, the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science Education (including graduate school program) and Department of Computer Science were established in the 2007 and a department of Mathematics (including graduate school program) was renamed in the 2011. The master program contains two categories: mathematics education and statistics. Students of the two sections also know and learn from one another, and cooperate with their different specialties through reading reports.
