臺灣的海洋生物多樣性十分豐富，大型甲殼類的蝦、蟹、蝦蛄等便至少有 1155 種亦即是全世界近十分之一的種類。申請人在過去一直進行臺灣的大型甲殼類分類研究，收集有超過1000 種大型甲殼類標本且其中有75 種存有正模 (Holotypes)標本，大部分種類亦拍有彩色的標本照，可以說是國內種類最多，資料最豐富的大型甲殼類標本蒐藏。本計劃預算利用三年期間將國立臺灣海洋大學的臺灣大型甲殼類標本蒐藏資料併入國家數位典藏計劃，除能將臺灣這一項重要的自然資產資料永久保全外，亦可作為國內生物及水產研究和產業的主要參考引用依據，並能有效提昇國內相關的研究、教育、生態保育及水產經營的推廣。而種類豐富的臺灣大型甲殼類標本數位典藏除可讓國人了解認識臺灣具有豐富的海洋生物外，亦可在國際間突顯臺灣海洋生物多樣性的研究成就。本三年計劃預算之工作進度如下：第一年是先整理長尾類亦即蝦類的標本資料，約有350 種1200 多個標本。第二年是整理異尾類及口足目(亦即寄居蟹類和蝦蛄)的標本資料，約有200 種 1000 個標本。第三年是整理短尾類亦即蟹類的標本資料，約有500 種1500 多個標本。本計劃提供的文字資料可以免費開放外界使用，但標本照將有條件的對外開放使用。本年度申請的是第二年計劃，工作內容主要是將異尾類及口足類的標本轉化成數位典藏。本計劃在第一年度中期（即92 年7 月）已架設網站“台灣大型甲殼類資料庫”（http:// 140.109.185.240/home.asp），並已開放瀏覽且持續增加資料中。Taiwan has a high biodiversity and at least 1155 species of large crustaceans have been found until now. This number is nearly 1/10 of the known large crustacean species in the world. The author’s major research focus is on the taxonomy of large crustaceans and have built up a specimen collection with over 1000 species (including 75 holotypes) of large crustaceans from Taiwan, with most species accompanied with color photographs. This specimen holding is generally considered to be the most important large crustacean collection in Taiwan. The present project plans to develop this large crustacean specimen collection into a digital collection under the national digital collection program. In this way, the specimen information of the large crustacean of Taiwan can be permanently persevered. Furthermore, a digital collection on the large crustaceans of Taiwan can greatly enhance their research and public education as well as promoting their fishery management. A species rich large crustacean digital collection of Taiwan can also demonstrate the high biodiversity of Taiwan and the academic achievements of local scientists. The present project will takes three years to complete. The first year will build up a digital collection for the macruran decapods (or shrimps) of about 350 species with 1200 specimens. The second year will build up the digital collection for the anomuran decapods and stomatopods (hermit crabs and mantis shrimps) of about 200 species and 1000 specimens. The third year will build up a digital collection for the brachyuran decapods (or crabs) of about 500 species and 1500 specimens. The information provided in this project will be freely open to use except for specimen photographs that can only be used conditionally. This is the second year proposal of the project and will focus on the digital collection of anomuran decapods and stomatopods of Taiwan. A website on the large crustaceans of Taiwan “http:// 140.109.185.240/home.asp” has been successfully set up at the mid term of the first year project (July 2003) with data continuously entering into this website.
