本試驗旨在探討白棘三列海膽親代營養與水溫光週期對海膽配子成熟之影響.若得到預期結果將有益於產業之實際應用;亦即業者可依繁殖或養殖之目的加以控制配子處於成熟狀況或非成熟狀況. 此外透過子代種苗培育試驗可以更進一步了解其與親代各項處理條件之關係. 更期望再為養殖業者增加另一可供選擇之高價位種類並能提供業者繁殖技術以期回饋自然放流拯救辜節的資源. This study is desinged to compare the maturation induction results on the adult white sea urchins (Tripnuestes gratilla) by three feed levels of β-carotene under six sets of combinated conditions by three controled photoperiods (whole plot) each having two water temperatures (subplot) within. Through the examination of the survivals of progenies at various larval stages we could possibly find out the best condtion that allows the spawnes to produce good quality gamates. Application of the result will be benificial for the culturists to control the cultured urchin being stayed at matured or immatured (fast gonad growth stage) at one's own will under a suitable set up condition with proper nutrtion and water quality control. Thus the problem of shortage in natural urchin population could also be easily solved by the release of the propagated recruited young urchins.
