Description

Abstract
The aim of the present project is to promote research on the ecology, physiology and gene expression levels of copepods exposed to chemicals (deriving from anthropogenic and natural sources) to highlight the effects of bioactive compounds and the toxicants on the secondary trophic production level. A comparison will be conducted between different responses of copepod species living in the Pacific sub-tropical, tropical and Mediterranean temperate regions. The key findings and scientific contribution in the past two years’ bilateral collaboration obtain include (1).Application, for the first time, of the newly harmonic generation microscopy to study copepod physiology; (2). Evaluation of sub-chronic effects of mercury chloride on copepod nauplii; (3) Two manuscripts have been published as in appendix (4) Another two manuscripts have been submitted to SCI journals and currently under evaluation.
