Description

Abstract
"The ocean temperature increase caused by global warming has been a serious issue in past few decades. Global warming is causing the melting of polar ice, rising global sea level, flooding in coastal area, impacting coastal regions and causing global climate change. These resulted in abnormal heavy rains, floods and drought. Taiwan has been suffered by the invasion of several typhoons each year. These climate changes caused much damage on ecosystems. In past decades, research on zooplankton was mainly strictly limited in regional waters such as in waters of southern East China Sea. Here we propose a comprehensive survey in this subject in a large scale oceanic samplings. The impact of climate change on marine life becomes an urgent research topic. Zooplankton plays an important role to transfer of energy and matter in the food web of ecosystems. This study is planning to sample zooplankton and simultaneously collects hydrographic parameters in waters of southern East China Sea during the period of August 2015-July 2017. The integrated study of global warming affecting the zooplankton assemblages in southern East China Sea will be evaluated in the present research. Global warming may cause the transportation of tropical invasive species to the southern East China Sea. This may cause huge impact on local species in coastal waters of Taiwan. This will be the objective of our study in the present proposal."
