Description

Abstract
"西北太平洋地區在夏季和秋季經常產生熱帶氣旋(俗稱颱風),並造成嚴重的 災害和損失。因此颱風的強度和軌跡為氣候變遷重要的研究課題。目前統計上將 此區域發生的颱風軌跡大致上分為三類:(1)沿著副熱帶高壓外圍向北往日本地 區前進(2)穿越台灣直撲中國(3)直接向中國南方偏西的方向前進。根據長時 間的氣象統計和動力學研究,認為太平洋赤道地區的南方震盪現象似乎會影響颱 風移動的軌跡。我們在地質研究的紀錄似乎也說明了類似這樣的結果,並指出台 灣地區和大陸南方地區在反聖嬰時期(AD 500-700和AD1400之後)受到較強的颱 風降雨影響。在聖嬰時期,日本地區則紀錄到較強的颱風事件。因此本研究嘗試 收集歷史文獻紀錄,統計海難、河難和氾濫事件的發生時間、地點等,用於重建 古颱風的軌跡。最後藉由這些資料的統計與台灣宜蘭湖泊研究結果相互比較,未 來規畫進一步與大陸學者合作在中國廣東、福建沿海地區再鑽 1-2口湖泊岩心。 第一期計畫將以宜蘭湖泊資料對比中國的歷史紀錄為主(為期一年),第二期將進 行與中國大陸學者合作進行中國南方的湖泊選址和鑽探(為期兩年)。最後評估是 否有機會鑽取日本與越南地區的岩心。" "In summer and autumn, tropical cyclones (generally called as Typhoon) often develops in the region of Northwest Pacific, and cause huge disasters and damages. It’s an important highlight for researching the intensity and tracks of typhoons. We can grouped the tracks of typhoons into three paths in this region: (1) steering around northward of the Subtropical High to Japan. (2) across Taiwan and directly forward to the South China (3) straightly towards the south China. According to the data of long-term meteorological statistics and dynamic research, they address that the Southern Oscillation in equatorial Pacific region affect the trajectories of the typhoon moving. Recent geological studies also clarify similar results, and pointed out that more rainfall derived from strong typhoons attacked Taiwan and South China during the La Niña period (AD 500 ~ AD 700 and after AD 1400). Contrarily, more strong typhoon events occurred in Japan during the El Niño period. Therefore, we try to collect historical records and the events of shipwrecks, river disasters and flooding for reconstructing the tracks of the paleo-typhoon. Finally, we compared the statistic data from above with lake records of Ilan Plain, and further cooperate with China geologists to get 1-2 lake cores in South China. We will combine the Ilan lake records with China history and geological records at the first stage, and then cooperate with China geologist to select the lacustrine candidates in southern China at the second stage."
