Description

Abstract
The emerging ICT and digital technologies have gradually been popular in primary school campus however, the pedagogy adapted for most mathematics education in elementary schools is lecturing; by giving lectures, mathematics concepts and knowledge are further given to students, nonetheless, this kind of one-way pedagogy leads to students’ low learning outcomes easily. In order to solve this problem, this project will base on the teaching ideas of primary school teachers, and on the other hand, it is cooperated with the company so as to develop a digital pen teaching system which provides the program for the teachers and students in elementary schools. Teachers adapt the digital pen teaching system for designing mathematics worksheets while students use digital pens for completing the worksheet assignment, and on the other hand, the learning procedure is digitalized while the traditional intuitionistic handwritten paper is retained for reference at the same time. The project cooperates with the company for developing the digital pen teaching system, also, it assimilates into the mathematics courses in elementary schools in order to conduct experiment activities. By collaborative learning which combined with digital pen teaching system, it could provide plentiful application service to trigger students’ learning motivation, and thus, teachers are able to obtain students’ learning conditions conveniently and timely feedbacks could be given to every student. Additionally, interactions and learning outcomes are enhanced through participating in real courses. The experimental subjects are 50 3rd grade students from an elementary school located in the north. And they are divided into two groups by different teaching modes, the first group is the experimental group which matches with the teaching mode of the digital pen teaching system and a collaborative learning approach while the other is the control group whose teaching mode is the digital pen teaching system and a lecture teaching approach. We will conduct a real mathematics courses in a primary school so as to observe whether there is any influence on the learning motivations and learning outcomes from both group of students under such modes. And finally, further discussion about whether there is any influence on the learning processes, learning motivations, and learning outcomes would be made.
