將農業產品換成高價值資源為國家發展目標，政府更推動產業創新政策，期望打造零廢棄及永續發展的循環家園。甘藷為我國重要糧食作物，但每年產生上萬公噸農業格外品，提升利用價值為重要課題。台灣代謝症候群人口比例逐年上升，對醫療能量帶來不小負擔。本計畫為國內第一個結合台灣甘藷與台灣本土來源次世代益生菌研究，以高脂飼糧誘導非酒精性脂肪肝動物模式，透過多體學分析了解腸道菌與脂質代謝作用機制，同時提升本土農產品利用價值及解決醫療健康問題，對於國家生技與農業經濟發展具其意義。
