Effective dosages of LHRH-a for induced breeding were found to be 142-166 pg/kg body weight in wild female spawners and 375-461 ,ug/kg body weight in pond-reared female spawners. The diameter of fertilized egg is 0.78 mm. With a water temperature of 27 ±1°C and salinity of 33 ppt, the first cleavage occurred at 48 minutes and hatched 21 hours after fertilization. Feeding of rotifer was started on the third day when the total length of the larvae was 2.6-2.8 mm. At nine days old, larvae were fed Artemia and artificial plankton A.P. The longest total length of 27 day-old larva was 17.5 mm. With the exception of the tail fin and a portion of the anal fin, the larva was deep black. The larvae gradually changed their body color from deep black to brownish-yellow in the following month. Larval survival rate was from 0.5 to 18%. |
