Abstract:
A deep-water pandalid shrimp,Plesionika williamsiForest, 1964, is recorded for the first timefrom waters around Japan and Taiwan at depths of 250-340 m. Although this species has beensuggested to be cosmopolitan, it has no previous record from the northern Pacific. The present recordsubstantially extends the known geographical range of this species. The morphological charactersand coloration of the northwestern Pacific material are described and illustrated. Brief notes on thetaxonomy ofPlesionikaspecies known from Japan and Taiwan are also provide.
