A Report on the Scyllarus Lobsters (Crustacea: Decapoda: Scyllaridae) from Taiwan

Abstract

Specimens of seven Scyllarus lobsters are reported for the first time from Taiwanese waters under the proper names of S. rugosus, S. bertholdii, S. martensii, S. batei, S. brevicornis, S. kitanoviriousus, S. longidactylus. Two of them, S. rugosus and S. kitanoviriosus have been previously misidentified as S. cultifer and S. martensii by Hwang and Yu (1983), while the other five are totally new to the marine fauna of Taiwan. All the seven specie s are described and illustrated. A list of the current Indo-West-Pacific Scyllarus species and a key to the Taiwanese species are also provided.本報告記述七種台灣近海産之蟬蝦類，分別為；皺褶蟬蝦Scyllarus rigosus H. Milne-Edwards，1837，雙斑蟬蝦S. bertholdii Paulson，1875，小蟬蝦S. martensii Pfeffer，1881，褐紅蟬蝦S. batei Holthuis，1946，短角蟬蝦S. brevicornis Holthuis，1946，大蟬蝦S. kitanoviriosus Harada，1962及長指蟬蝦S. longidactylus Harada，1962。前五種是採自漁市場之小型蝦拖網漁獲物中，後二種則是沿岸潛水而得。除提及此七種蟬蝦之主要外部形態特徵、體色、同物異名外，並列擧印度、西太平洋海域所産之蟬蝦種類，亦附台灣産蟬蝦之檢索表及彩色圖片。
