Title: Estimation of water resources availability in Taiwan
Authors: Nien-Sheng Hsu

Issue Date: May-2006
Conference: World Environmental and Water Resources Congress 2006
Abstract:
This paper develops a methodology for estimating water resources availability (that is, the total amount of usable water) under various levels of reliability. Water resources availability in each of the 12 sub-regions in Taiwan is then calculated by using the developed methodology. The annual water resources availability is finally determined for the four major regions in Taiwan. The results show that the annual water resources availability is 4,423 million m³ in the Northern region, 7,738 million m³ in the Central region, 4,125 million m³ in the Southern region and 3,522 million m³ in the Eastern region. The total annual water resources availability is 19,808 million m³ in Taiwan.
