Abstract:
A new species of the clawed lobster genus Nephropsis Wood-Mason, 1872, collected recently by the South Java Deep-Sea Biodiversity Expedition (SJADES 2018) off the southern coast of Java in Indonesia, is described. The new species is closely related to Nephropsis carpenter! Wood-Mason, 1885, but differs in the shapes of the carinae and groove on the carapace, as well as in the spination and relative length of the pereopods. The large sequence divergence in the barcoding gene COI also supports the recognition of the new species.
