Abstract:
A new species of mud-shrimp (Thalassinidea: Upogebiidae), Upogebia edulis,
from Taiwan and Vietnam, is described. It shows sexual dimorphism in the morphology of the first pereiopod and polymorphism of the same appendage in the late mature phase of the males. The first pereiopod can be differentiated into two types, one stout, the other much more slender. This new taxon is most closely related to U. wuhsienweni Yu, 1931, with which it is compared.
