Title: Identifying and Analyzing Bioactive Components of "Sauropus androgynus" Ethanolic Leaves Extract

Abstract: 
The present study was carried out to determine the phytocomponents in the leaves parts of katuk, "Sauropus androgynus" L. Merr. The leaves extract was examined using Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) to analyze the active compounds. Results showed the presence of thirty five compounds in the ethanolic leaves extract. GC-MS analyses identified the active compounds mainly consist of fatty acid, tocopherol, alkaloid, parabens and glycerol. The major components were 9, 12, 15- Octadecatrienoic acid (Z, Z, Z)-, hexadecanoic acid, 2, 8-dimethyl-2-(4, 8, 12-trimethyltridecyl)-6-chromanol, caffein, methylparaben and propylparaben. The isolated phytocomponents also exhibited some biological activities including antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiimflammatory and preservative activities. The presence of various bioactive compounds in the katuk, "S. androgynus" leaves extract justifies the use of the plant in traditional medicine as a healing agent, placebo and medication in various diseases. The ethanolic leaves extract of "S. androgynus" is considered for application in the fish farming to enhance survival, growth, and immmunomodulation.近年來許多不同植物的萃取物被證實是安全而且有效的免疫調節物或是營養物質,甚至許多研究中也發現這些萃取物質可以作為藥物使用。守宮木是一種普遍存在於印度,東南亞與澳洲的常見植物,也長期被當地居民當作蔬菜或是藥用植物使用。本研究利用氣相層析質譜分析儀分析守宮木樹葉的乙醇萃取萃取物,結果顯示其中含有三十五種不同的活性物質,主要包括脂肪酸,生育酚,生物鹼,對羥基苯甲酸酯以及甘油等。其中主要的成份包括:α-亞麻酸(9,12,15-Octadecatrienoic acid (Z,Z,Z)-),棕櫚酸(Hexadecanoicacid),的δ-生育酚(2,8-Dimethyl-2-(4,8,12-Trimethyltridecyl)-6-Chromanol),咖啡因(Caffein),以及對羥基苯甲酸丙酯(Propylparaben)。因此,守宮木樹葉的乙醇萃取物未來將應用於水產生物之成長,存活及免疫調節作用。
