本系教學研究的方向,主要以監測或偵測海洋環境中的各種現象、資源為主。主要研究對象為海洋物理、海洋化學及海洋環境監測。海洋物理學是研究海水運動過程如海浪、洋流及潮汐、以及其他海洋環境中的各種物理現象。海洋化學是研究海水及其中生物和海底沈積物之化學反應,以及所含成分元素之化學分析。本系教學及研究重點並專注在海洋環境污染的因子之探討及監測,且強化各種資訊處理方法的整合運用。
