Abstract:
In this study, length-weight relationships were estimated for Trichiurus japonicus caught in the surrounding waters of Guishan Island off northeastern Taiwan. A total of 483 samples were collected using a trawl net from March 2018 to February 2019 in monthly surveys. For all samples, no significant changes were found in the total length (TL) and body weight (W) over time. The range of weight and pre-anal length (PL) was within 7.29-800 g and 93-390 mm, respectively. The TL-W relationship of T. japonicus was W = 0.00003TL^(3.6118) (R^2 = 0.9699), and no significant differences existed between sexes. In addition, significant linear TL-PL and TL-body depth relationships of T. japonicus were found for both sexes; moreover, no significant differences existed between sexes.
