AN ANNOTATED CHECKLIST OF GOBIOID FISHES FROM THE MANGROVE ESTUARY OF MATANG, MALAY PENINSULA, WITH COMMENTS ON A NEW Pseudogobius (TELEOSTEI: GOBIIDAE) SPECIES

Abstract

A series of field collections of fishes were made in the Matang mangrove, Malay Peninsula in April 2011. At least 23 genera and 27 species of gobioid fishes including a new Pseudo gobius species were collected and recorded in this region during the expedition. The checklist of gobioid fauna and available materials are provided herein, and the formal description of a new goby species, Pseudo gobius fulvicaudus Huang, Shao & Chen, new species will be provided and discussed in this paper.
