Garden eels from Taiwan, with description of a new species

Abstract

Although the fishes of Congridae Of Taiwan have not yet been thoroughly studied, CHEN & YU (1986) reviwed this family recognizing 18 species: 8 in Congrinae, 5 in Bathymyrinae, and 5 in Muraenesocinae (in their later book they corrected last-mentioned subfamily to family rank). They included no representatives Of Heterocongrinae. Thus the present paper not only describes a new species but also records a species and a subfamily new to Taiwan.
