Two New Records of Aphyonid fishes (Pisces: Aphyonidae), Aphyonus gelatinosus Günther, 1878 and Barathronus maculatus Shcherbachev, 1976, from the Deep Waters Adjacent to Taiwan

Abstract

本研究記載自2002年9月至2005年6月在台灣深海水域內水深1134-2423公尺，所採集到台灣新記錄膠胎(魚尉)科二屬二種的魚類。它們分別是膠胎(魚尉) (Aphyonus gelatinosusGünther, 1878)及棕斑盲鼬(魚尉) (Barathronus maculatus Shcherbachev, 1976)。以上之膠胎(魚尉)科(Aphyonidae)，膠胎(魚尉)屬(Aphyonus Günther,1878)，盲鼬(魚尉)屬(Barathronus Goodeand Bean, 1886)等1科2屬為台灣之新記錄科、屬。本研究除描述此二種新記錄種之形態特徵及地理分布外，並附上其標本照和採集測站資料，同時亦提供台灣膠胎(魚尉)科的種別檢索表。New records of two Aphyonid species were collected by R/V ‘Ocean Researcher I’ and R/V ‘Fishery Researcher I’ under 1134-2423 meters in depth off Su-ao, eastern Taiwan on Sep. 2002-Jun. 2005. They are Aphyonus gelatinosus Günther, 1878 and Barathronus maculatus Shcherbachev, 1976. The two genera, Aphyonus Günther, 1878 and Barathronus Goode and Bean, 1886, and the family Aphyonidae Jordan and Evermann, 1898 are the first records from Taiwan. Thus, the fauna of Taiwanese aphyonids currently is two genera and two species. This paper describes diagnostic characters and geographical distributions of the two new species. Color photos, station data, and a key to the species of Aphyonidae from Taiwanese Waters are also provided.
